In many larger new-build homes, unvented cylinder servicing is a requirement due to the heating system being different to a standard combination boiler. Powered by an unvented hot water cylinder, it’s a high-capacity system designed to deliver powerful, consistent hot water throughout the home.
An unvented service typically takes 25-30 minutes and includes:
- Expansion, temperature, and pressure relief valve testing
- Tank draining, where required
- Combination and reduction valve maintenance, including strainer cleaning
- Pressure expansion vessel inspection and recharging
- Leak detection and electrical grounding verification
- Main and boost immersion heater testing, including resistance checks
- Full service record completion and certification
Because of its design, servicing an unvented cylinder is a specialised task. It involves precision checks, testing safety valves, recharging the pressure vessel, cleaning the reduction valve, and verifying electrical connections. By law, only engineers with the right qualifications can perform this work. Our team is fully G3 certified, ensuring every service is carried out with safety and compliance.
